The Bell Aurens Longnose is the byproduct of two German Land Rover enthusiasts, Thomas Bell and Holger Kalvelage who got together through an online forum creating this one-of-a-kind off-roadster version of the classic Landie. Under the Bell Aurens Longnose’s never-ending bonnet lies a choice of two Rover V8 engines, a 4.6-litre with 235 Hp and a 5.0-litre delivering 280 Hp.

Celebrating its 60th birthday on April 30, Land Rover is launching a series of commemorative edition models. Apart from the Defender 90 and 110 SVX versions that we’ve already shown you the British marque will also introduce (initially in Europe) 60th anniversary editions of the Freelander II, Discovery 3 and Range Rover models. All special edition versions will feature additional standard equipment along with “60th Anniversary” decals and badges.

The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) announced today that it has accepted the application of the former Ford owned Jaguar - Land Rover to become a member of ACEA. Making its UK debut at the Salon Privé Luxury and Supercar Show on 2nd July at the Hurlingham Club in London, the SuperSport II by Overfinch is based on the Range Rover Sport. The aggressively styled SuperSport II features a 10 piece bodykit combined with 20 or 22-inch alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance tires. Other amenities include a new sports steering wheel, a sports instrument panel with red needles and coloured brake callipers.

Land Rover has announced that it will unveil a new, high-specification version of its Range Rover model at the British International Motor Show on July 22nd 2008. Dubbed ‘Autobiography’, the new flagship model receives more leather upholstery than any Range Rover before. The Autobiography’s facia, door casings, door bins, seats and centre console are all finished in leather. Even the floor mats are edged with leather.

Representing a-no-expenses-spared tuning proposition, the Range Rover Country Pursuits Concept (CPC) made its debut today alongside the SuperSport II at the Salon Prive Luxury and Supercar Show in London. The Range Rover based CPC sports an exclusive mica pearlescent Aubergine paint colour combined with a bodykit comprising one piece front and rear bumpers, side valances, roof spoiler and special exhaust tails along with new 20 or optionally, 22-inch alloy wheels.

This 40 foot high (12 meters) raw steel structure that hosts five Land Rover vehicles (one of each nameplate) is the work of British artist Gerry Judah and it was created in celebration of the Land Rover’s 60th anniversary. Positioned directly in front of Goodwood House, the metal artwork was unveiled on Thursday, July 10 2008, by Lord March at the official opening of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 11-13, 2008).

Edmiston, a luxury yacht brokerage and sales company has joined forces with Land Rover to create a program that will see top yacht designers crafting one-off-a-kind Range Rovers inspired from the world of luxury yachts. The two companies will kick off the program with the “Superyacht Range Rover Design Competition” in which seven top yacht designers took part, including Bannenberg, Tim Heywood, Andrew Winch, Terrence Disdale, Ken Freivokh, Redman Whiteley Dixon and Martin Francis.

The winning design will be unveiled during the Monaco Yacht Show in late September. Edmiston states that visitors to the show will be able to place their orders for any of the exclusive Range Rover designs that even include a two-door cabriolet version. Delivery time will be between three and six months with prices ranging from €200,000 to € 800,000 or about or $300,000 to $1.2 million.

Even Land Rover was spellbound by the fellowship of ‘the green automakers’ at this year’s Paris Motor Show as the Brits introduced their most fuel efficient vehicle ever, the Freelander 2 TD4_e Stop/Start. As you may have guessed, this Freelander which uses the standard 160HP 2.2-liter diesel engine comes equipped with start and stop system, a first for Land Rover. The system basically shuts down the engine in appropriate conditions therefore saving fuel that would otherwise be used when idling. But that’s not all as the more eco-conscious Freelander also includes a series of additional enhancements that help improve fuel economy.
